Seasons Givings Blog Hop Year 6

Hi there! It's Seasons Givings Blog Hop time again and I'm so excited to be participating again this year. A big shout-out to Latisha Yoast, who does all the behind the scenes work to put on this annual blog hop. The entire blog hop is about giving back and thanking our awesome readers, and each and every stop on the hop is doing their own giveaway! How cool is that?

I'm just a few days shy of 11 years of blogging here at Poetic Artitstry and am so grateful for all the friends I have made here over the years. Sharing inspiration is something I love to do and I am so blessed by those of you who take the time to send your support in comments, emails, cards and orders. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've also been blessed with a husband who supports my creative endeavors and doesn't mind an entire room of the house devoted just to papercraft things lined up in rainbow order. So I have an overflowing treasure trove of goodness in my stamp room, and new stuff from Santa to put away! I'm offering up the following giveaways as a thanks to all of you for your support and friendship. Here's to a bright and shiny 2018!

I enjoy a lot of different styles of crafting, but my heart always brings me back to shabby chic or mixed media creations when I'm creating just to create. My start at a card for this hop quickly turned into a little 5X7" canvas.

Back before the holidays, I was shopping for Christmas papers and I saw this KaiserCraft Romance line of paper and ephemera and had to bring the last remaining single sheets they had home with me.  Fast forward to New Year's Eve and as I packed my Christmas papers away, I stumbled across these beautiful papers and just had to make something.

I love the quote on this ephemera piece, and since it seemed fitting for celebrating a new year that was my jumping off point. Next I cut a designer paper panel, distressed the edges and then added a couple layers of lace and some pearl flourish stickers.  At this point my card took a detour to a canvas because I remembered these awesome resin frames I picked up at Michaels a while ago.  I painted it with glitter paste and then while that was drying, layered some of the ephemera flowers how I wanted them then added it all to the frame.

The canvasboard is treated with heavy gesso, then I used a Prima stencil to add texture with White Sands Crackle Paste.  Once things were dry, I added a seam binding bow, a wood flourish painted with texture paste and glimmer paste, and a few random flowers from my stash.

Okay, there's my project in a nutshell, let's move on to the giveaways...

To enter my giveaway, leave me a comment telling me the favorite book you read in 2017, or if you were too busy to read (no shame in that, I've got two little kiddos so most of the books I've read are about Pete the Cat!), tell me your favorite movie or TV show.

Giveaway 1 {winner must have a US shipping address}

Flat rate box of papercrafting goodies. Stamp sets, dies, paper pads, stencils, embossing folders. There's still room in the box, so I'm sure more will be added before shipment.

Giveaway 2 {US & International winners welcome}

My second giveaway is a $50 gift code to my shop, Verve Stamps

Comment deadline for the prize drawing is 8:00 pm Mountain on Monday, January 8.  Please check back on Jan. 9 to see if you are a winner.

Julee Tilman  {You are here}

If you're new here and like what you see, I'd love for you to subscribe to my blog over there in the sidebar. You can also find me on Instagram at www.instagram.com/vervegirl or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/poeticartistryblog

If you're new to Verve, we've got our year end clearance sale going on through January 3 with everything 35% off, plus save an additional 15% off your order with gift code GBUY17.

Happy hopping and happy new year!
Next up on the hop is Karen Baker.

LOL, your comment about Pete the Cat cracks me up because that's my 4 year old's favorite series! So, not much reading for me...except for FB! My favorite TV series this past year was Game of Thrones, which my husband and I watched AFTER the kids are in bed! Happy 2018 to you!

I love the original Get Smart series from way back in the day. It was good, clean family television. Happy New Year!

I read the Bait of Satan by John Bevere. We learned how to not carry offenses and ways to keep yourself from getting offended and dealing with it immediately.

Hi Julee. Your canvas is gorgeous-what a great quote! My favorite TV show is Madam Secretary. It very often mirrors recent world events and gives us a look into the reasoning behind decisions that our government may face, with a woman’s perspective. Best movie-Wonder Woman. Sadly-I don’t read too many books.
Thanks for always giving your best inspiration, products and generosity to the paper crafting community!

My favorite book this year was The Girl In The Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz. You need to start at the beginning of the series...The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest.

I have been enjoying a series of quilting novels by various artists. I don't have much time for sewing these days so the books keep me involved!

Wow!! That’s a great way to share kindness!! Thank you so much everyone for coming together! :) Happy New Year :)
Your question makes me wonder how time went by! I didn't have the time to read any book amidst the busy schedule of managing home, office, kid and crafting :) And I rarely watch TV (I even forget there is one at home!) Maybe I can answer movie, and that would be Thor Ragnarok :)

Congrats on 11 years of blogging, Julee! Verve was one of the first online stores I found, and I've loved your work ever since.

My fav book of the year was Harriet Beamer Takes the Bus. Nothing too deep, but just plain fun!

Happy New Year!

Very pretty card! Congratulations on the 11 years, wow that's a great achievement! My favourite book I read in 2017 was actually a trilogy - Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam books. Really enjoyed them. Wish I was eligible for prize package one as it looks amazing! Ah well. Thanks for the chance to win, and Happy New Year :)

Such an amazing card! The book I am enjoying most is 50 Truths Worth Knowing. It's not a book you "finish;" it's one you pick up often and read and re-read. I am always inspired by your sentiments and the one used on this card is one of your best! My goal this year is to build up my followers and create with images or sentiments that make everyone smile or stop and think like this one! kren @ http://afourthlife.blogspot.com

Among the good ones - "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah, "Lilac Girls" by Martha Hall Kelly and "The Russians" series by Michael Phillips and Judith Pella. I couldn't wait to get over here and see the details of this beautiful mixed media panel! WOW! This is exquisite! I did start to read several books this year and never finished one of them, but have happily read my Bible each morning 80% of the time, which is an increase. Lately I read every day more weeks than not. Yay for the Word! :) Hugs, Autumn

Happy New Year! I read a LOT, so picking a favorite is hard. I read Gone With the Wind, which was a surprisingly amazing book. If you haven't read it, I can't recommend it enough! I also really enjoyed Alas, Babylon - a dystopian novel that somehow made me smile. The Road is also amazing, but also super hard to read. I'd love to know about your favorites!

Happy New Year! Thanks for the chance to win your prize! I didn't get much time to read in 2017 and I plan on changing that in 2018. One of the books I want to read is Signs from our pets in the afterlife! And then some Stephanie Plum!

I love reading. My favorite book this year was Bounce by Matthew Sayed which talks about virtues of talent versus practice. I am so inspired by it that this year my resolution is to practice my coloring till I am much better! Love your canvas. I really love the shabby chic style. Though I am not very good at it.

Unfortunatel my disease that I have suffered with for almost 18 years now makes it difficult to concentrate a read a book. However, for Christmas this year I was given a very thoughtful gift. It is a book called Believe Me by Yolanda Hadid. She also suffers from the same disease as I do. Lyme Disease is a very cruel disease,if not caught early and unfortunately for many people it not, they are misdiagnosed. The reason why this is so important to me it is someone to connect with many gain some insight and reach a goal that I never thought I would be able to ever again. Thank you for letting me voice that, I never, ever want to see another person suffer because unfortunately that is my every day life, living in pain, loosing my identity and even loosing my crafty side. However, I am not ready to give in and I am going to keep on fighting like I did at Christmas time. With my mothers help we got our crafty on and made gifts for all my care givers. Thanks for the opportunity to speak, you are so kind. I have subscribed to your blog and yes I am international (Canada)

Wow, Julie!!! What a prize package!! 11 years! Congrats. I love the crisp clear lines of Verve stamps. Love your creations. always! My spare time this past year has mostly been filled with stamping. I started a fantasy series called the Wheel of Time back in 1996. In 1997 I had my son and my reading of these HUGE books came to a halt. My son will be 21 at the end of this month and he has read the entire series and keeps begging me to read them again so we can chat about it! I didn't make it very far through the last book I gave up on shortly after he was born but I am going to keep trying. I am currently reading Of Mess and Moxie by Jan Hatmaker. It's light and funny but also has a message. I am enjoying that a LOT. Happy New year and once again thanks for all you do to inspire us!

It's hard to choose just one book I loved since I'm a nut for reading. Kings of Broken Things was interesting (historical fiction about dirty politics in the early 20th century) and I also enjoyed Come and Sleep, a book about the folklore of Kitsume, the Japanese fox. Great question. Now I want to see what everyone else commented, too. :)
