Soft and Shabby

Hi friends! It's the first Friday of a new month and that means it's my turn to host the sketch challenge over on the Viva la Verve blog.  This week's sketch is pretty easy to dress up or down.  I hope you have fun with it and would love to see what you create.

The boys have been home sick again all week, so I was in need of a soft and feminine diversion when I sat down to stamp last night.  I pulled out an old favorite My Mind's Eye paper pad and got to work cutting all the layers and sponging with pumice stone ink.  After I was done with that I stamped the birthday sentiment from Poppy Birthday on the partial stitched circle.  Then I realized I had stamped it the wrong direction to fit with the sketch, so had to swip-swap the banners and circle on my sample.  No worries, though, it worked out a-ok!  :)

Next I stamped the scribble poppies from the set in blushing bride onto die cuts from the coordinating Build a Poppy Die Set , shabbied them up a bit with a paper distresser, a little pumice stone ink and layered them with dimensionals.  I did the leaves the same way, adding a hint of blushing bride ink, then tucking them up top over the silver thread nest.  I finished with a little piercing across the smoky slate layer, then accenting with some shiny silver flatback pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you have a fabulous start to your Labor Day weekend!

Going to seriously have to CASE this card! So lovely Julee! So sorry to hear the boys are sick again. I am not sure if they have allergies or it's their immune system trying to adapt to school germs, but mine have been awful this year. I have had 6 sinus infections from allergies just this year. Hope they get better quick and you can get to the bottom of this soon! Big Hugs!!
