Praying for You

Hi friends!  Whew... the week is flying by!  I've been busy trying to get caught up after our release of new products, but I thought I'd drop in and change up the scenery with a new card I made featuring the Praying for You Plain Jane.

My original concept for this card was clean, simple and masculine.  And everything was going according to plan until I saw this flower on the floor that just NEEDED to be used!  {grin}  So I girlified it with the flower and a little linen thread bow and a whole lot of shine spray for all sorts of shimmer.

The cross is cut with the Cross Die Set and I then stamped it with the Thatched Banner Plain Jane to give it a fun texture, then hand cut a mat for it.  Had a bit of fun with my paper crimper and the scor-pal and the card was done.  Pretty CAS for a CASS girl!  LOL  The sentiment is the new Praying for You Plain Jane and I embossed it with early espresso craft ink and clear embossing powder.

I hope you're having a great week!

Mojo Smiles

Hi friends! Can you believe it's Monday again already? It seems the weekends go by faster and faster with 2 little boys around! {grin} Anyhow, Monday morning means it's time for another Mojo Monday sketch. And since it's the last Monday of the month, it's my favorite week... round or square. I hope you'll find a little time to play along with my sketch this week! I love seeing what everyone comes up with!

For my card, I pulled out the newly released Doodled Occasions set and a bunch of paper from my scrap pile. I noticed as I was looking through cards by the Divas in our gallery that there was a lot of yellow being used this release. So I set out to use a little bit of yellow on my card. The pennants are cut with the Ribbon Banner Die and I stamped the trio of flowers off the edge of a Classic Oval Nestabilities die cut, then added the Smile sentiment and cut out and popped up another flower from the Doodled Occasions set. I stamped another flower trio on white cardstock, then cut out the leaves to add them to my solo flower. Everything is colored with Copics. I added a few doodles here and there to match the sketchy style of the images, then finished off with a Flourished Trim Die edge and some scattered flatback pearls (as well as some black liquid pearls up top.

Okay, that's all on the card front. If you haven't already heard, all of the sets and dies we've been showcasing over the past couple weeks are now available for purchase in the Verve Store!  Woohoo!!!

And all Verve stamps and dies are on sale 10 - 50% through the end of the month, so be sure to check it out!

Bloom

Hi friends!  Happy Saturday!  I had so much fun chatting with many of you at our release party last night!  I've met so many wonderful people over the last 5 years with Verve and am so inspired by so many of you!  There's a LOT of work that I do behind the scenes to pull off a release, and seeing your excitement over the new products makes it all worth while!  Thanks so much for your support!  All of the products the Divas and I have been showcasing over the past couple weeks are available for purchase in the Verve store now!  We've also got a great sale (even on the new products! going on through the end of the month, so be sure to check it out!

I've got a quick little card to share using the newly released Doodled Occasions set. I've been having a blast with dies lately and thought the  Flourished Trim Die would make a lovely stem.  I've paired it with a couple of the hearts from the From the Heart Die Set to make some leaves, then stamped the sentiment and layered it onto Blossoms Nestabilities to make a perky little flower.  The border below is just one of the little flower stamps from Doodled Occasions stamped repeatedly, then colored with Distress markers and a blender pen.  I finished off with some Stickles, a butterfly die and some fun polka dot ribbon.

Enabler's List
Stamps: Doodled Occasions (Verve Stamps)

Bundle of Joy - AVS Hop Day 9

Hi friends!  Happy Friday.  It's the final day of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops, which means our release party is tonight!  Come join us from 7-9pm Eastern!  The final set the Divas are spotlighting is a request from Jen del Muro for a set with all occasion sentiments using the fonts from Words of Wisdom.  It's called Treasured Words and well, I'll just let the Divas show you what it's all about!

My card is another CASS card.  It was totally CAS and then I had to add some liquid pearls... and embossing ... and ribbon and pretty soon it was still clean but only {sort of} simple! {grin}  It's so hard not to pile on all the fabulous embellishments that are just calling my name!  LOL  Anyhow, my idea for the card was mainly to just have fun playing around with the new dies.  I wanted to try the Arrow Die as an inner mat for the Pennant Trim Die.  It worked beautifully.  I just layered the arrows over the pennants, snipped off the ends and then used the leftover part of the arrows for an accent on the card.  How cute is that?  I cut the pennant trim down to just 6 pennants and then layered the Flourished Trim Die over it and added a bunch of silver liquid pearls to my die cuts.

The image and sentiment are both from the Treasured Words set.  The baby carriage is colored with Copics and punched out with 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" ircle punches, then layered onto Scalloped Flowers die cuts.  I finished off by embossing the polka dots on the card base and then adding a pool party seam binding bow up top.

I'm getting so EXCITED for tonight!  We'll be revealing all the sets in their full glory at our Release Party from 9-11PM Eastern. While you wait, you can take one last stroll through sneak peek land. Thanks so much for joining in our 5th Anni-VERVE-sary celebration the past couple weeks!

Next up on the hop is Laurie!

Dare to Dream - AVS Hop Day 8

Hi friends!  Happy Thursday and welcome to the Day 8 Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops.  The Divas are featuring a set called Borderline as well as the Mini Classy Label, Mini Vintage Oval and Mini Bookplate die sets today, so let's get started!

I snuck in a few other Verve sneak previews, but started out with the Borderline set and the Mini Bookplate Die Set. I stamped the bookplate image in black, cut out with the smaller die and then matted in black with the larger die. A little Copic marker treatment gives it the look of three layers instead of two. I used the outlined chevron border stamp on each of the pennants on a Pennant Trim Die, then colored with Copics and layered a black Pennant Trim die cut behind it. A little mini scallop punched border and black twine finish off the divider.

Next I stamped the birdie from With Love on white twice, then cut out just the wing shape and stamped the open ric rac image across the wings a few times and colored in with a black marker. This is paper pieced onto the colored birdie. Next I cut out several Pointed Flower dies in white, pool party, peach parfait and cherry cobbler, then stamped the coordinating stamps from Lean On Me and added a little shading with Copics. The leaf is a Dreamy Leaves die cut, and I freehanded the leaves with a glue pen and then dusted glitter over them for a sketchy look. A Sizzix embossing folder background and a little clipped on flower corner finish the card off.

Alrighty, I've got SOOOOO much to do and so little time, so it's time to click on over to Laurie's!

Don't forget there's a prize! We're giving away the Borderline set and coordinating Mini Die Sets to a random commenter on one of the hops, so be sure to give each Diva a shout out as you hop on down the road!  Head on over to the Verve Blog for all the details and a little bit more about today's featured products.

Sailing - AVS Hops Day 7

Hi friends!  Happy Wednesday.  It's Day 7 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops and we're on the verge of some new VERVE!  (Yes, Marisa, that's a nod toward your Kindle Fire auto-correct that keeps replacing Verve with verge!)  {grin}  There's a lot of delicious eye candy to see today as the Divas showcase more scrumptious new stamps and dies.  Are you ready?  Let's go to the HOP!!!

Did I mention we're giving away a prize?  Leave a little comment love on each of today's hop posts (see full list below) and you just might be the lucky winner of: Learning to Sail and the Flourished Trim Die!  Head on over to the Verve Blog for all the details and a little back story on today's featured products.

Well, I think I finally ended up with a CAS card, or as close as I'm going to get!  {grin}  I've been trying all week, but kept getting distracted by all the toys in my studio that I haven't had a chance to play with for so long.  I knew I wanted to use the cloud technique I used in my Day 1 card with the sailboat image from Learning to Sail, so that's where I started.  The boat is stamped onto a Classic Square Nestabilities die cut, with the bottom of the water lined up with the embossed edge of the square.  I then masked off the edges from the embossed square outward and used a Scalloped Flower die cut to sponge Soft Sky ink directly onto the image.  I wanted to get lots of clouds and some darker areas of ink so that it really looked like a storm could be coming.  After that, I pulled the masking tape off, outlined the border of the embossed square then paper pieced and colored the sailboat image.

The waves are colored with a Tumbled Glass Distress marker and a waterbrush, then I filled them in with Frosted Lace stickles and a pinch of polar white flowersoft.  The waves on the base of the card are made by using half of the negative left over from cutting the  Flourished Trim Die.  I used it as a mask and inked up just the bottom section of my card.  The title sentiment from Learning to Sail is stamped directly on the card base and I paper pieced the banner portion to match the sails on the boat.  I finished off with a scallop rectangle mat for the image and a fun twirly ribbon treatment in the corner.

I'm getting so EXCITED for Friday!  We'll be revealing all the sets in their full glory at our Release Party this Friday night from 9-11PM Eastern.  Are YOU going to be there?  You've still got a few days to hop and participate in our Anni-VERVE-sary festivities in the hopes of winning some of these new sets and dies we've been sneaking!  A recap of all the ways to win is in the first post on our Release Party Thread.

Okay, time to move along... I can't wait to see what the rest of the Divas came up with, so I'm going to grab a mocha and hop on down the list!  Want to join me?  Next up is the always inspiring, Laurie!

Life With You - AVS Day 6 Hop

Hi friends!  Happy Tuesday.  It's already Day 6 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops!!!  The Divas are back at it again bringing you more delicious sneak peeks of the sets and dies that are releasing on Friday night, August 24.  I'm the start of today's show, so let's get to it!!!

Oh yeah, did I mention there's a prize?  Leave a little comment love on each of the posts on today's hop list (see below) and you just might be the lucky winner of the stamps and dies we're featuring today... Stronger Love, the Scroll Plain Jane and the Scroll Die!  Head on over to the Verve Blog for all the details and a little back story on today's showcased stamps.

My card once again started out as a clean & simple concept, but this time I got side-tracked in mixed-media land.  I started with a 4" square and I masked off about a 1/2" border with masking tape, then stamped the love sentiment from Stronger Love repeatedly in Baja Breeze.  Next I removed the tape and scored at 1/4" and 1/2" on all four sides.  I pulled out my Martha Stewart fringe scissors and snipped the fringe to the first score line.  Then I pulled out a black gelato and baby wipes and made a fun little mess.  This piece is matted on a Basic Gray mat, and I wrapped some aqua baker's twine around the edges to give it a frame look.

Next up I cut a Wavy Hearts die cut from a scrap of DP, then hand cut a black mat for it and inked up with some more gelatos and baby wipes.  The Scroll Plain Jane is stamped onto the coordinating Scroll Die and I stamped the three individual words, life with and you from the Stronger Love set inside of it.  It's colored with a Pumice Stone distress marker, water and a watercolor brush.  The finished card size is 4.25" square (plus a little wiggle room for my skewed panels)!

I can't wait to see what the rest of the Divas came up with, so I'm going to grab a cup of coffee and hop about!  Want to join me?  Next up is our resident tractor driving Diva Laurie!

Looking UP - AVS Hop Day 5

Hi friends!  It's Monday morning and that means it's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch.  This week's sketch was designed by Teresa Kline.  I've flipped the sketch horizontally for my card.  Head on over to the Mojo Monday blog for all sorts of inspiration to jumpstart your creativity this week.

It's also Day 5 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops and today the Divas are showcasing a set called Brighter Days, along with the coordinating Scalloped Flowers Die Set and Arrow Die, which will all be available following our release party on Friday night (8/24).  Hop along and leave some comment love on each of the blogs on the list and you just might win the sets and dies featured today!  Who wouldn't love a little new Verve?!  {grin}  Check out the Verve Blog for the full hop list, all the prize info and a little back story on today's stamps.

My card uses all three of today's featured products, plus another peek at the Flourished Trim and Pennant Trim dies.  I like to play with flowers with a lot of petals and layers, so these flowers are right up my alley.  For this card, I chose to use only stamps (no patterned paper) and one color of ink.  So everything is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and then I just used a colorless blender pen to fill in each of the flowers.  I love the different depths of color it creates on different colors of cardstock.  Here I used cream and Pretty in Pink.  The arrow shape has a pennant tail, so I decided to decorate my Pennant Trim border by stamping the end of the arrow on each pennant and coloring with a blender pen.  Then I had to stamp the full arrow and cut out with the Arrow Die to pop up next to my sentiment.  The pink and white layers of the flower add-on are cut with the Scalloped Flower Die Set.  I hand cut the smallest flower center to give a little more dimension, then coated with glassy glaze and a sprinkling of glitter.

I layered my borders, including my favorite dotted edge border punch, which I think looks great with the Pennant Trim Die and Flourished Trim Die.  I finished off with a ruffled ribbon treatment, a vintage button ad some liquid pearl accents.

Not sure if you noticed the little bit of "character" built into my card, but on my way from my studio to take the photo, one of the twins had a meltdown and I had to set the card down on the kitchen counter to go calm him down.  And sometime between then and when I picked the card up again it got splashed with water from the kitchen sink, so there's a little water spot on the T in "things".  In my life before twins, I would have remade the card, but the new there's-never-enough-time-in the-day-me is saying it's "good enough".   {grin}

There's lots to see today, so I'll stop rambling.  Now it's time to head on over to Laurie's blog to see her fabulous spin on these new products!

Thoughts & Prayers - AVS Day 4 Hop

Hi friends!  Happy Sunday!  It's Day 4 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops and today the Divas are sharing sneak peeks of a soon-to-be-released set called Wonderfully Made and the Praying For You Plain Jane.

After a more masculine card yesterday, I went all girly with today's card, using a pink, green and black color combo.  The flower and sentiment are both from Wonderfully Made  and I've colored with PanPastels and cut and layered the flower pieces in the tole fashion.  Next up I added some accents with the new Flourished Trim Die, highlighting all of the black trim with some black liquid pearls.  A little Victorian lace trim at the bottom and a big wrinkled ribbon bow up top finish things off.

Well, there's lots to see, so I'll keep this short and let you get on with the hop!  Up next is Laurie!!!  Oh, and don't forget to head on over to the Verve Blog to get the scoop on prizes, deadlines and a little back story on today's stamps.

Make a Wish - AVS Hop Day 3

Hi friends!  Happy Saturday and welcome to our 3rd day of Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops!!!  The Divas are back at it again bringing you more delicious sneak peeks of the sets and dies that are releasing on Friday night, August 24.  I'm the start of today's show, so let's get to it!!!  Oh yeah, did I mention there's a prize?  Leave a little comment love on each of the posts on today's hop list and you just might be the lucky winner of the set we're featuring today... Doodled Occasions!  To find out a little more back story on this set and to get all the nitty gritty details about prizes and deadlines, head on over to the Verve Blog.

Okay, NOW let's get to it!  If you read the little write-up on the Verve Blog about this set, you'll know that I designed it with the clean and simple style of stamping in mind.  As you may notice, my spotlight card is not CAS, but I will tell you it STARTED there and got waylaid in shabbyville along the way! {grin}

I stamped what Mr. Verve refers to as the Dr. Seuss cake (it's his favorite stamp ever) and embossed it and the Make a Wish sentiment in white on crumb cake cardstock.  I then  did a little coloring with distress markers and then Copic markers over some of the embossed parts.(amazingly enough, Copics will cover embossing!).  Next I added some vintage photo sponging around the image and matted on old olive and a island indigo scallop rectangle.  Up until this point, everything was still pretty CAS, but then I decided to add another sneak of that little Pennant Trim in the corner.

I wanted it to pop, so I layered the white Pennant Trim below the island indigo Pennant Trim and offset it just a bit, then stamped each pennant with a star from a set we'll be peeking next week.  I added some frosted pearls from Pizzazz Aplenty (LOVE these little embellishments!) and then laid it onto some crumb cake cardstock.  It needed something... so I pulled out the Swiss Dots folder and then WITHOUT even thinking I inked and distressed the edges.  It just happened, I tell ya!  {grin}  So I kept on with the distressing and then since the CAS concept had gone out the window, I went in and added some linen string behind the crumb cake layer and then finished off with some white enamel dots all around the scallops and in the center of each star.

I just know the rest of the Divas have some exciting cards to show you with this set, so grab a cup of your favorite beverage and settle in for a fun little hop!  Next up is the always fabulous Laurie!

Hi Friend - AVS Hop Day 2

Hi friends!  Happy Friday!  It's Day 2 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops and there's lots to see!  Leave a little comment love as you hop about to the blogs listed below and you just might find yourself the proud new owner of some hot off the presses Verve sets and dies!  For a little more info on the sets we're featuring today, head on over to the Verve Blog.

Today the Divas are featuring Lean on Me, Thatched Banner Plain Jane, Pointed Flowers Die Set and Dreamy Leaves Die set, all of which I used on today's project. Our fifth Anni-VERVE-sary Release challenge is an ABC (anything but a card) project.  I knew as soon as Janelle and Amy announced their theme that I wanted to make a K-cup caddy.

So with sets, dies and template in hand, I got to work making a little coffee gifty for a friend, complete with my current favorite kind of K-cups.The flowers and sentiment are from the Lean On Me set and cut with the Pointed Leaves Die Set.  I added the leaves from Dream Big which are cut with the brand new Dreamy Leaves Die Set.  The sentiment is embossed onto the Thatched Banner plain jane, which is matted with the coordinating Ribbon Banner Die.  Oh, and that Pennant Trim Die jumped onto my project again, this time with pearls in between each pennant.  Love the look of it!

Lots of ink and paper distressing and a handful of super fun embellishments finished things off.  I told you all about them the first time I wrote this post, but then somehow the whole post deleted when I went in to change one link and then it auto saved as a blank post!  So the second time around I'm just winging it because it's almost time for my nanny to leave!

So did you hear about our Customer Card Carnival?

Speaking of prizes, today is Day 4 of our Anni-VERVE-sary Release Challenges over in the Verve forum and today Tosh and Charmaine are challenging us to make a CAS (clean and simple) card.  Come play along for a chance to win some shiny new Verve!  The deadline is August 24, so there's still plenty of time to get in on the fun!

I'm thinking of starting a new movement called CASS (clean and {SORT OF} simple). {grin}  As y'all know, I'm not much of a CAS kind of girl, although I really admire the style!  So it's not really a surprise that somehow my card ended up a little more involved than I originally planned!  However, it's still {SORT OF} simple.

Anyhow, on with the card.  I stamped the bird from With Love (which is a larger version of the little birdie from Making a Statement) directly onto a Scalloped Flower Die {a sneaky sneaky peek}, then paper pieced with some Amy Tangerine Sketchbook prints.  I liked the border paper from the same collection and decided to hand cut the portion I wanted  and add the Pennant Trim Die underneath.  The clouds are inked onto the card base using a Scalloped Flower die cut, Soft Sky ink and a craft sponge and I embossed just the bottom portion of the card base with the Swiss Dots folder.  I finished with some flatback rhinestones and a twine bow.

Oh, and I almost forgot.  The fun layout is the CAS183 challenge over on SCS this week.

Okay, time for you to get hopping!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Next up on the hop is Laurie!
