Christmas Mojo

Hi friends!  Boy, do I have a super busy week ahead.  This afternoon we close on our new house and we're scheduled to move in this Friday, so I'm typing this surrounded by boxes and packing supplies!  My studio is completely packed, so this is probably the last card you'll see around here for quite a while.  This will be our 10th move in 14 years together, so I should be a pro, but I must say it's been difficult trying to find the energy to pack being pregnant with twins.  It seems like I need a nap after every single box - even if I'm just supervising!  LOL

Anyhow, it's Mojo Monday, and this week's sketch is a fun one from Debbie Carriere.  Be sure to check out the Mojo blog to see the other designer's takes on this sketch. My take is actually a card and gift in one.  The main circle panel is actually a handmade detachable magnet.  To make it, I simply cut a circle from music sheet paper and from chipboard and glued together.  I inked the edges of the music sheet with Antique Linen distress ink, then adhered an exotic butterfly diecut in black to the center of the piece.  I colored the insides of the die cut with a Copic marker then covered the entire surface with a coat of Diamond Glaze.  While it was still wet, I sprinkled champagne glass glitter over the top, then set it out to dry for a couple hours.  I came back and did a second coat of Diamond Glaze, to make it thicker and make the glitter appear to float, then let it dry overnight and matted with a black scallop circle and attached a magnet to the back.

Here's what the card looks like when the magnet is taken away.  I completed it with an image from Bright Spirits so it wouldn't look blank once the magnet was removed.  The opposing magnet is hidden underneath the image panel, so it all looks like magic.  {grin}  The fancy tag piece is embossed in black with the same heart image and the patterned papers are from the World Traveler collection.

Okay, that's all from me!  If you don't hear from me before then, have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!  Thanks so much for reading my blog!

Ten moves in 14 years!! If I didn't know better I'd think you were in the military. Hopefully this is it for a long time!

Hang in there with the fatigue! Take a few power naps now and then and you'll feel better :) Enjoy setting up your new home and decorating to your heart's content :) Post some pics for us to oogle over!

Gorgeous cards, Julee, and fabulous idea on the magnet - it's superb! Love the glaze and glitter.

I hope all goes well with the move, especially if you're expecting twins!! I must have missed the announcement on that one. But from one mother of twins to another..., congratulations!! You are in for one fun, busy ride, full of wonderful memories and excitement. You will love it. ;-)

Hope all goes well this week!

I can almost share your fatigue in moving, as we have three weeks to go for our big move. I can't say that pregnancy is my reason for being tired, just older age and lots of aches and pains to go with it. Hopefully this is our last move for a long time too. Congrats on the twins announcement, and hope all goes well for you.

Julee, guess I missed the memo too but I kinda suspected you were pregnant. You left little clues and there was baby talk over at SCS the night of the last release. :-) Congratulations to you and Mark. A new home, twins on the way and a successful stamp company, could it be any better?!? You totally deserve it!
As for the card, it is beautiful as usual and love the magnet idea. That is such a thoughtful gesture to put into a card. :D
Merry Christmas,
Lisa S.

CONGRATULATIONS on so much, Julee! TWINS!!!!! Your new home! And so on! What a busy but magical and transformative time for you. You so deserve all the good things coming your way. BUT TAKE IT EASY! Nothing else you do right now is more important than taking care of yourself and those little people you're carrying. :) THRILLED for you, my friend!!!

Julee, I just LOVE your card and the gorgeous magnet. What a wonderful idea and keepsake! I am always so inspired by your artistry.

I do understand about the moves. My husband was a military officer and we moved 14 times in his 21 year career. I too found it harder to move the more we did it.

TWINS!!! Such happy news and I wish you only the best.

After reading the comments, I realized that I was not the only one to miss the "twins" announcement. I saw another mother of twins chimed in and as I have twin 3 year old girls, I wanted to let you know that you will survive! It may seem extremely difficult at times, but watching them interact with each other will make it all worth it. Advice: buy LOTS of diapers!! Your card is gorgeous as always and how fun is the removable magnet!
