I Hope You Know

Hi friends! It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch, and this week is my favorite type of sketch to design - round or square! I had a blast making this card and I hope you enjoy using the sketch just as much.

I went with the square layout and took my color inspiration from this gorgeous My Mind's Eye paper.  I stamped the small flower from One Person {on sale through the end of today, 5/31, during Verve's Memorial Day Weekend Sale} in a row on some blush blossom paper with Razzleberry ink.  I then stamped the large flower and the small flower again, cut out and colored with Copics and popped up.  The sentiment is also from the One Person set, and I stamped it on an EK Success punch, then doodled a little border, punched a couple slits through the sides and did a fun ribbon treatment with some Razzleberry polka dot ribbon.  I finished off with a cream layer embossed then lightly inked with some Antique Linen ink.  To add that sparkle I just can never resist, I lined the eyelet lace punched border with rhinestones and painted my flower with a mixture of diamond glaze and glitter.

So Awesome

Happy Friday!  Today's the start of the Memorial Day Weekend Sale over at Verve and all our stamps are 20% off through Monday, May 31!  Be sure to check it out for some stamping good deals!

My card for today is one of Mark's favorites of mine from our most recent release.  I was playing around with cork, and decided to deboss it with Vintage Photo ink and the forest Cuttlebug folder.  The sentiment comes from the Happy Days set, and I did the Kissing technique with Broken China and Tumbled Glass distress ink and the flourish from the Blessings set.  A few rounded corners and some black burlap string and this card was all tied up!

Okay, that's all from me for today.  Tonight I head back home from Laurie's to spend Memorial Day weekend with family. It seems like I just got to Montana and I'm already leaving. How come time always seems to speed up when you're having fun?   I can't wait to start showing you the cards I made in Laurie's awesome stamp room!!  Hope you have a fabulous weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Like a Wildflower

Hi y'all!  Happy Wednesday!  Today I have another card I made before I left to share with you.  I've actually made a ton of cards while here in Montana, but I didn't bring my camera and didn't want to make Laurie do all my dirty work for me!  LOL  :)

This card uses an adorable little Seed Packet Template that's included in Kelleigh Ratzlaff's May Grab Bag and also uses digi papers from the Something to Celebrate kit by Sugarplum Paperie.  (Both of these are on sale through the end of the month!)

Last time I used this paper, I went bright and colorful, but this time I chose a more subdued, shabby approach. I love papers that lend themselves to a variety of styles, and I particularly love this diamond print paper!  I printed the seedpacket template on Kraft, then cut out, inked the edges with Vintage Photo and left the cute little flap open to tuck a little surprise into.  The sentiment is from te Feel the Sun set, stamped in Fired Brick.  I made the flower with a few flower punches and a pearl center, then I made some little leaves from the diamond paper.  The lace is from Webster's Pages and I added some bling, some buttons and a cute little linen thread bow to finish things off.

Alma's Birthday Blog Hop

Hey everyone!  I was so excited to be invited to play along with the TCP Cat Pack in a special birthday blog hop for Alma today!  Alma, (owner and illustrator-extraordinairre of The Cat's Pajamas), is celebrating her birthday this weekend and we're surprising her by dedicating TCP Tuesday to her!  So if you've been hopping along, you just came from the oh-so-talented Joanne's blog.  If not, you might want to start at the beginning to see all the TCP goodness!

And since it's TCP Tuesday, Amy's issued a supply challenge to get WOODY!  That could mean using woodgrain papers or a woodland theme to your project, and if you'd like - add a little birthday flavor to your card!  Then upload your card to Alma's Guestbook to wish her a happy birthday (and of course, a chance at being named the Swanky Stamper of the month!)

I'm on vacation this week, but luckily had tucked a few little sets into my suitcase that worked with this challenge.  My woodgrain comes from the wood stamp in the Tutu Much set, which I used as some wood floor for my drink-toting penguin from the Salud set.  To round out the card I used classic TCP colors, some fun pink dew drops and yummy polka dot ribbon.  Papers are from the new Delovely collection by Cosmo Cricket.

Okay, thanks so much for hopping by!  I'm the last stop on the hop so be sure to head on over to Alma's blog to wish her a happy birthday and upload your TCP Tuesday card to her Guestbook!  Have a fantastic day!

Here Comes the Sun

Happy Monday!  It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch!  I'm still on vacation at Laurie's, but made sure to spend a little of our stamping time last week making a card for today's sketch.  I really like how this one turned out using the Let it Shine set.

I started with some fun papers from the October Afternoon Fly a Kite collection and distressed with Walnut staine distress ink.  I stamped the sun from Let it Shine on cream, then again on the yellow patterned paper and paper pieced over it.  A little sentiment on a curvy label punch and a mussy ribbon treatment and I was done.

I've got a bit of what I'm affectionately calling the "Montana Plague".  LOL  Really, I've been sick for several days and though I wouldn't have thought it possible, it just seems to keep getting worse.  But I'm very hopeful that the worst is behind me and I'll be waking up tomorrow ready to party it up for the rest of my vacation!  :)

Today and Always

Happy Friday!  I'm having a blast on vacation and keep pinching myself, I'm so excited I still have another week left here in Montana. Laurie's stamp room seriously rocks, and we've had such good times.  I'm so grateful hubby was so supportive of me coming here.

Before I left, I made this little card for him and stealthily tucked it away in his Kindle cover so that he'd be sure to find it after I had gone.  It was a pretty sure bet he'd find it the first night, and he did!  I used May Week 2 Viva la Verve! sketch and the blue inspiration photo.

The main paper is from the So Sophie collection by My Mind's Eye.  Mark really likes the look of crimped paper, so I pulled out the paper corrugator for the French Roast panel, then light distressed the edges with my new Distrezz-it-All.  For the sentiment, I pulled out the I love you today and always stamp from One Person, then stamped one of the leaves and embossed it white all around the sentiment to mimic the lok of the paper.  Next I stamped the two flowers (also from One Person) on the patterned paper, then sponged the edges, layered and added some white accents with a gel pen.   I added a couple strips of ribbon for a little interest and glued everything to a white card base.

Okay, that's all for the card front.  Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Birthday Wishes

Happy Tuesday! I'm having a blast hanging out with Laurie in Montana, and thought I'd pop in to change up the scenery and share this card I made a few days before I left.
I was playing around with some Waltzingmouse Stamps that had been sitting uninked on my desk.  I started with the sentiment and small flourish from Fancy Phrases stamped in Faded Denim and Crushed Olive.  Next I rounded the corners of this panel and matted with navy.  For the label, I stamped the gorgeous frame from Very Vintage Labels No. 5 and cut out with the coordinating Nestabilities Label 5 and matted on olive cardstock.  The grid lines on the bottom half of the card are stamped with one of the backgrounds in the Off Beat Background set.  I finished off the card with some Beaux Art ribbon and a little pearl cluster to set off the sentiment.

Okay, that's all for now.  Back to my awesome vacation, already in progress!  :)

Penguin Mojo

Happy Monday!  It's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch, and this week's is fun, fun, fun.  Well, I always think cards with lots o' layers and tilted panels are fun!  To kick off the first day of my 2 weeks of vacation, I decided to go for a bright, colorful and fun spin on this week's sketch. I just adore this little penguin from The Cat's Pajamas, and these fun digi papers from Sugarplum Paperie seemed like the perfect fit for a whimically festive card. I can't wait to hop off the plane this evening and say "hola!" to Laurie.

The stamps are from the new Hola Tequila set by TCP.  I stamped the penguin, sentiment and the border on a Labels Nestabilities diecut, then colored with Copic markers and some fun Spica glitter pens for uber shine!  :)  The papers are from the gorgeous Something to Celebrate digi kit.  {It's half price right now during the DigiChick birthday bash, and soooooo worth $3!!!)  Everything's matted with a really deep french roast cardstock that really makes the colors pop.  I used an EK Success border punch for the curvy border and then finished off with a Candy Sprinkles button and some beige linen thread.  (I love this stuff!)

Well, that about wraps it up!  I'll be out of town for a couple of weeks, so if things are quiet here on the ole blog, just know that I'm off having fun and thinking of you!  Hope you have a fabulous week!  This month's project parade kicks off this week over on the Verve Blog, so be on the lookout for this month's fun theme!

Amazing Awesome Cool

Happy Friday!  Hooray, it's practically the weekend!  :)  I've posted a new Ready SET Stamp challenge and a newly made card over on the Verve Blog today, so check it out if you haven't already.  Plus, it's Viva la Verve! day, so keep a lookout for Amber's newest sketch and inspiration options over in the Verve forum.

On a Verve note, I'm heading out on vacation starting Monday!  So, if you're needing a specific stamp for a project in the next couple weeks, you'll need to place an order before 5 PM Mountain this Sunday, May 16. I'll ship everything that's been received by then before I leave, but after that no emails or orders will be processed until I return on June 1.  You can still order while I'm gone, but if you're willing to wait, I promise our Memorial Day Weekend Sale (May 28-31) will be worth the wait!

Okay, now on with the card.  This is one of my favorite cards I made with our latest release.  I tried out some new Hero Hues inks with the Kissing technique (that's where you ink up a solid stamp with one color of ink, then a patterned stamp with a different color, and then smoosh the pattern stamp onto your solid stamp before stamping to paper.)  So in this case I inked up the AWESOME stamp from Happy Days with Grass ink and the flourish stamp from Blessings with Cerulean.  The ink transfers one to the other, so you can then stamp both stamps on paper for a fun look.  The more contrast between your colors, the more distinct the look will be.  I added a few more words from Happy Days in Cerulean above and below, then another flourish in green.  A little paper piercing and a distressed edge and I was ready for the next piece.  The cerulean paper is a Hero Arts note card that's got a white core, so I sanded the edges, then stamped flourishes in a pattern so that they'd look like they were peeking up from behind my sentiment panel.

The green prism paper is embossed with the Distressed Stripes cuttlebug folder and I added a few buttons from Pink Hedgehog.  I think it turned out to be a great gender/age neutral card.  Okay, that's probably enough rambling for today.  Catch ya on the flip-side!  :)

What's In It?
Stamps: Happy Days, Blessings (Verve)
Paper: Cerulean (Hero Arts), green (Prism)
Ink: Cerulean, Grass (Hero Arts Chalk ink)
Accessories: buttons (Pink Hedgehog), burlap string, paper distresser, distressed stripes (Cuttlebug), paper piercer, sanding block

Thinking About You

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!  There's only a few more days until my vacation officially starts!!! I just can't wait to put up a little "gone stamping" sign and head on out into the wild blue yonder.  :-)  I know it's just what I need to re-charge my creative batteries.  I was thinking this morning that my mojo is kind of like my electric toothbrush.  When the batteries are low it still cleans my teeth, but it takes a whole lot longer to get to the little vroom vroom sound that indicates I did a thorough brushing!  LOL  :-)

Anyhow, today's card may have taken me a little longer, but it was the most fun stamping I've had in quite a while.  And it's all about the journey, right???  :)  Some new toys arrived the other day that I wanted to test out, plus I'm head over heels for these dreamy new Waltzingmouse Stamps, so I had to ink a few more of 'em up!

I started by running some cream cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the new Tim Holtz Regal Flourishes Textured Fades.  I was inspired by this week's color combination on SCS  {CC270 Mambo Suede} to use melon mambo and soft suede, so I swirled on some of both of those colors with an Inkssentials blending tool, then distressed the edges with my new Distrezz-It-All.  I watched the video on this machine a few weeks ago, and just HAD to have one.  It's so cool!  Fun distressed edges without all the work!  Love it!

For the stamping, I stamped the frame and sentiment from Fancy Phrases, then cut out with the Fancy Tags Spellbinders die.  Next I stamped the half frame from Very Vintage Labels No. 10, layered on a Soft Suede Labels 10 cut out and added some Zva Creative Sweet Blossoms.  I finished off with a fun little ribbon treatment using some SU! polka dot ribbon and some Beaux Regards ribbon I got on my latest shopping excursion.

What's In It?
Stamps:  Fancy Phrases, Very Vintage Labels No. 10 (Waltzingmouse Stamps)
Paper: Melon Mambo, Soft Suede (SU!), Cream
Ink:  Soft Suede, Melon Mambo (SU!), VersaMark
Accessories:  Tim Holtz Damask Texture Fades (Sizzix), Distrezz-It-All (Zutter), Fancy Tags, Labels 10 Nestabilities (Spellbinders), polka dot ribbon (SU!), striped ribbon (Beaux Regards), Inkssentials Blending Tool (Ranger), Sweet Blossoms (Zva Creative), Stardust Stickles (Ranger), mini-brads

Bloomers

Happy Wednesday!  Seems like the week is just flying by!  Today I'm sharing a little gift card holder I made for Mother's Day this year.  After seeing people rave about the Bloomers by Webster's Pages on their blogs, I just HAD to order myself some.  When they arrived I must admit that they were much bigger and much shabbier than I expected.  Since the actual product didn't quite fit the fabulous card idea I'd been working on in my head, I had to come up with a new idea for using them.

I thought the flower from Feel the Sun would look great sandwiched in between two of the blooms, so I stamped it several times on some Cappella BasicGrey paper, then colored with Copics, painted with some Illuminate pearlized topcoat Smooch and layered on dimensionals.  I sewed the bloomers to a piece of Kraft cardstock, then distressed the edges and added some sponging with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks.  The sentiment is the Mother's Day Plain Jane, embossed in Chocolate Chip Craft ink and then cut with the Labels 5 Nestabilities.  That's one of those shapes that gets forgotten in my drawer of dies, and I really should use more often.

After I was finished with the outside, I made a little pocket for the inside to hold a gift card, a check or some cash (I hadn't decided which at the time, so I made sure it would fit them all).  I cut the edge of the Labels 5 from a rectangle of Kraft cardstock, then added some stitching and some sponging to match the outside.  The strip of DP is the same Cappella DP I used for the layered flower, and I stamped a sentiment from Just for You and the smaller flower from Feel the Sun along the strip.  Finished card size is 5" square.

Okay, that's all for today. Hope you have a fabulously creative day!

With Love

Happy Tuesday!  Ever since the latest Waltzingmouse release, I've been literally dreaming about the cards I'm going to make with the Very Vintage Labels No. 10 set.  These stamps just captured my heart.  Yesterday my order arrived from Ireland, and even though I'm still under the weather, I was so excited I just had to ink them up immediately!

I started by stamping two of the frames in Rose Red on cream cardstock, then cutting out with the coordinating Labels 10 Nestabilities.  Next up, I stamped the pansy image from Afternoon Tea Sentiments twice, colored with Copics and cut out.  The center of the flowers are popped up and I added a little mixture of diamond glaze and glitter to give them some sparkle.  I layered everything on dimensionals, then added a few pink pearls and an adorable little sentiment from Afternoon Tea Sentiments.

The green paper is from the October Afternoon Thrift Store collection and the pink polka dot paper is from the So Sophie line by My Mind's Eye.  I added a couple decorative corners with a Martha Stewart Iron Gate corner punch and a fun little ribbon treatment to finish it off.

Okay, that's all for today.  I'm still slowly recovering from my flu bug, but hoping for a super productive day.... after my trip to the dentist!  Catch ya on the flipside!  :)

Totally Rad

Happy Monday!  I hope y'all had a fabulous weekend!  I spent Saturday evening and all of Sunday on the couch with the flu, so my weekend wasn't all that exciting (well, at least not the type of exciting I would have liked!).  Hopefully I'll be feeling better SOON, since I have lots and lots to do before I leave for vacation next week!

It's time for another Mojo sketch over on the Mojo Monday blog.  I pulled out more of that Retro Grunge paper from Tim Holtz and did a lot of distressing.  The main sentiment panel is stamped and embossed in Old Paper on vanilla card stock and then I sponged over it with walnut stain and frayed burlap.  The outer edge is stamped with the accent from Relax, and the sentiment is the Totally Rad plain jane.  To add to the distressed feel, I used my paper corrugator on the brown panel and the three little hand cut strips of designer paper.  Then just some distressed edges, a little stitching, some burlap string and a few brads finished it off.

Share the Wealth Saturday

Happy Saturday!  First off, let's get to the winner's announcement from Monday's giveaway.  The Fancy Pants Paper and Pink Paislee Scrap Pad go to...

Marisa who said...

Darling card, Julee :D Great use of the colours and I love all the white space. I'm ready to go surfing too LOL! Since I'm always late on getting in to trends or bypass them all together(what can I say, I've never been a trendy girl LOL!) I'd say I'm really loving buttons. Also enjoy making flowers. Have a fabulous week :D

Congrats Marisa!!!  I'll send your goodies out next week!  :)

Now, on with today's card.  I actually colored the flower from One Person to go with some of the new So Sophie papers by My Mind's Eye, but my purples ended up being to pink for the look I was going for, so I made a quick card to use up this flower.  The sentiment is stamped in Rich Razleberry and cut with the Labels 9 Nestabilities.  The aqua paper is from one of my favorites - the Tiffany's collection from We R Memory Keepers.  I added a bow in the corner and topped of the flower with some new Webster's Pages Sparklers (oh my word, I'm loving these gorgeous little things!!!).

And since my craft room still runneth over, I figure I'd have a Share the Wealth Saturday Giveaway.  Just leave a comment on this post before next Friday night (5/14) and I'll pick a winner to send a sampling of the Tiffany's Collection of paper along with some fun embellishments.  Need something to say?  Tell me what crafty thing you've been eyeing.  I've been pining away for some of that really fine Flower Soft.  I've never tried it, but see so many people create awesomeness with it.

Verve Day Thursday

Happy Thursday!  A few weeks ago, Mercy started doing Verve Day Thursdays over on her blog, and I just really like the ring to that!  ;-)  I know, I know, most days are Verve days around here, but I still like the name!  :)

Every time I stamp recently, I'm drawn to this "Life is good" sentiment from Relax.  I put it in the set because it's something that I need reminding of all too often.  Sometimes it seems that the big rain clouds in our lives make everything look dark and stormy.  But we've only got one life to live and it's a GOOD one.  So I choose to enjoy it, to be happy, and to see the good in life, in other people and most importantly, in myself.

I was on the phone the other day with Laurie, arranging and re-arranging all the scraps on my desk, when I decided how nicely this red little 365 Degree flip pad shape looked with the black & white papers on my desk.  Isn't it just gorgeous?  I love the shape and the flourishes!  I can't wait to use more of them!  In fact I loved the pad so much I bought it twice - on 2 different occasions to the craft store!!!!  So I'm giving a whole little pad of these away along with some other paper goodies if you leave a comment on my Monday post this week.  I stamped directly on the flip pad shape and embossed in white, then hand cut a white mat and sponged both the white and red with black soot ink.

The main background is from the BasicGrey White Basics line and I used a Tim Holtz flourish mask on the top half and sponged around it with black soot.  Then I added a strip of Making Memories Wedding paper, with a little Iron Gate Martha Stewart border punch in black behind that.  Next I wrapped a little Melissa Frances lace around the main panel, then did a little distressing around the edges of the panels.

For the flower, I used two flower punches of red DP and curled and layered them, then added a white cameo prima in the center and arranged some QuicKutz flourish die cuts all around for a little backdrop.  Then I finished off with three little red rhinestones in one of the upper curves.

Okay, that's all for today!  Hope you have a spectacular Verve Day Thursday!  :)

Retro Grunge Dad

Hi there!  It's Tuesday morning, the sun is shining (sort of) and I've got a card for you!  :)  This month, Verve's Featured Stamp set is Protector.  It's a fun little set for Dad that's 40% off through May 31.  I just love the look of the text block stamped as a background, so I pulled out my new Tim Holtz paper pad and got to work.

Here's what I did:
1. Cut a 4 x 5.25" piece of the star paper (Tim Holtz Retro Grunge) and a 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 brown mat from coordinating paper from the same pack
2. Cut a 4" strip of vellum cardstock and tore at around 2.5"
3. Cut sentiment panel and mat with Labels 1 Nestabilities
4. Stamped and embossed the DAD stamp on the label with first Walnut Stain, then Frayed Burlap and clear detail embossing powder
5. Stamped and embossed the text block three times on the vellum strip with Walnut Stain and clear detail ep
6.  Sponged Antique linen all over vellum piece, then sewed along edge to star paper
7. Distressed edges of two largest panels with a paper distresser and lightly sponged Frayed Burlap then curled corners around a paper piercer
8. Pierced hole in center of star paper, then threaded linen thread around just the one side three times
9. Added the Dad label with dimensional foam tape
10. Glued everything to a cream A2 card base

Beachy Masculine

Happy Monday!  I had a fabulous weekend and am totally psyched to start a new week!  And it's a brand new month, so it's a CONTEST week over at Mojo Monday!  It's the first mojo sketch I've created in several weeks, and it feels good to be back!  I love how this sketch can be clean & simple or you could punch it up a notch, too.  And all those little squares in a row?  What a fun way to use up some of those scraps we all have lying around.  Anyhow, there's lots of chances to win free Verve if you participate!  So once you're done here, hop on over to the Mojo Blog to check out all the deets and the fun cards from the Mojo Design Team.

Today (May 3) is also the last day to take advantage of Verve's {inter}National Scrapbooking Day promotion.  Just use gift code INSDFREE at checkout to receive free shipping on any order over $24 (US & Canada only)!

Okay, on with the card details...  I went clean & simple, with a beachy masculine feel.  That's kind of my "thing" right now.  Isn't it funny how one day you just get on a new kick and can't seem to stop?  I made several very masculine, distressed cards this weekend and I'm sure you'll all be wondering very soon where my usual sparkly, flowery cardmaking style went!  LOL  Anyhow, I love this card and I really dig the sharp contrast of black matting with a lot of white space.  I had some scraps of the gorgeous Le Petit Oiseau digi papers laying around on my desk after my Tapered Box project, so I just went with it.  The strip of squares is 1" wide and I added a little black burlap string up at the top.  The surfboards are from the Relax set and I embossed them in Black Soot onto the patterned paper and cut them out.  For the sand, I just tore a piece from the cocoa paper and layered it on the neutral paper, scraping my Pumice Stone Distress Ink pad directly around the edges for a distressed feel.

The sentiment is from the Big Wish set, and is punched with the SU! small and large oval punches.  To add a little interest to all the white space, I scored a 1/4" frame all around the card base with my Scor-Pal, then added a trio of tiny little black rhinestones to the bottom corner.

So what are you stuck on lately?  Any fabulous new toys you can't put down?  My newest love is the Tim Holtz Lost & Found Paper Collection.  YUM!!!  Oh, and the Roadshow Collection by Fancy Pants ... be still my heart!  And I'm head over heels for the little 365 Degrees Flip Notes by Pink Paislee. I just love the shape and the fabulous designs... squeal!!!  So if you've made it this far and you're still reading, leave a comment on this post and I'll draw a name on Saturday to receive a sampling of the Fancy Pants paper and the Flip Notes, and who knows what other little toys I might throw in there, too!  My craft room runneth over!  LOL

May the Road

Hi y'all! Happy Saturday, Happy May and Happy {inter}National Scrapbooking Day! I just love any day that's set aside to celebrate crafting! I may not be much of a scrapbooker, but that doesn't mean I don't like shopping! LOL And through the magic of online shopping, I've already hit a few sales today!  :)  And since everyone loves a sale, Verve has a little free shipping offer this weekend, too.  If you use gift code: INSDFREE at checkout, you'll receive free shipping on any order $24 and over (US & Canada only). Code is valid through Monday, May 3.

Okay, on with today's project.  I was snooping around at the Craft Warehouse last weekend when I spied these beautiful frames.  They're black an distressed and have these fabulous flowers and pearls, so I just had to pick a few up to make some gifts.

For this one, I pulled out the Blessings set, because this blessing has a special meaning to the the friend I was making it for.  I stamped the sentiment in Walnut Stain and embossed in clear on Roadshow designer paper from Fancy Pants.  Next I embossed the flourish from blessings at the top and bottom with white embossing powder and then colored lightly over it with the Pearl White Copic, so it wasn't so stark white.  Then to finish, I changed the ribbon at the top (it was a dark olive) and then colored a few big pearls aqua with a Copic marker and placed inside the three little empty ornamental buds.  For the final touch, I coated all the metal leaves with some Smooch Pearlized Top Coat.  Wish the photo showed some of the sparkle, but hangy glass things are SOOOOO hard to photograph.

That's it for today!  Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend!
