Bloomers

Happy Wednesday!  Seems like the week is just flying by!  Today I'm sharing a little gift card holder I made for Mother's Day this year.  After seeing people rave about the Bloomers by Webster's Pages on their blogs, I just HAD to order myself some.  When they arrived I must admit that they were much bigger and much shabbier than I expected.  Since the actual product didn't quite fit the fabulous card idea I'd been working on in my head, I had to come up with a new idea for using them.

I thought the flower from Feel the Sun would look great sandwiched in between two of the blooms, so I stamped it several times on some Cappella BasicGrey paper, then colored with Copics, painted with some Illuminate pearlized topcoat Smooch and layered on dimensionals.  I sewed the bloomers to a piece of Kraft cardstock, then distressed the edges and added some sponging with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks.  The sentiment is the Mother's Day Plain Jane, embossed in Chocolate Chip Craft ink and then cut with the Labels 5 Nestabilities.  That's one of those shapes that gets forgotten in my drawer of dies, and I really should use more often.

After I was finished with the outside, I made a little pocket for the inside to hold a gift card, a check or some cash (I hadn't decided which at the time, so I made sure it would fit them all).  I cut the edge of the Labels 5 from a rectangle of Kraft cardstock, then added some stitching and some sponging to match the outside.  The strip of DP is the same Cappella DP I used for the layered flower, and I stamped a sentiment from Just for You and the smaller flower from Feel the Sun along the strip.  Finished card size is 5" square.
