Starry Lights

I love July! It's my birth month, as well as our country's birthday, the weather's always beautiful (aka HOT), my brother and his wife usually come to visit the week of the 4th, and this year I have another exciting thing to add to the list of July highlights! As of today, Verve is the newest SCS member company! Woohoo! To celebrate we've got a couple fun things going on over at our forum. Be sure to drop on by and say hi!

First, a coupon to celebrate....
Use code SCSMC in the coupon box of the shopping cart for FREE shipping on all orders through July 15.

Second, Verve's first ever forum challenge...
For all the details and prize info, check out the A Starry Challenge thread in our new forum! The basic challenge is to make a project with a star (any kind of star) somewhere on it and upload to SCS using keyword VSCSTAR.

For my card, I knew I wanted to use this American Craft paper I got WAY too much of on clearance last year because I loved the fun color combo and couldn't resist the big fluffy polka dots. It's actually double-sided paper, and the diagonal stripes are the back side. Bonus when you get two patterns you like in one sheet! So my color combo was set... Real Red, Night of Navy, Old Olive and Soft Sky. Next I pulled out Polka Stars to go with the big polka dots in the paper.

I decided to give Mojo #44 another go with the optional layer included, so I cut all the pieces, then stamped the open and solid small polka stars in Navy and Olive randomly around the main panel with the You light up my life sentiment inked in Versafine Crimson Red in the center. Next I stamped the largest polka star in Crimson and punched out with the SU! large star punch. I thought it needed a little more definition, so I added a very thin Navy hand-cut mat around it. For the back panel I glued the polka paper and red mat to the Soft Sky piece and ran the whole thing through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots folder. I finished off with photo corners, white gel pen accents, pearl dew drops and Stardust Stickles to make my stars shine!

I'd love to see you play along. And two lucky winners will be randomly chosen to receive $15 in Verve Bucks, so it could definitely be worth your while! ;)
