Happy Saturday peeps! Today's card is a birthday card that is somewhere in the Canada postal system as we speak. Today is the person's birthday, but who knows when that envelope will arrive?
I really loved this card I made a while back for SC164, so I set out to try the sketch again. A week or so ago I found a Making Memories pack at Target that was a collection of black, white and dark gray designer paper. I just love using black & white with a little color, so I picked it up and knew it would be perfect for thsi card. I stamped the polka dot butterfly from Fluttering By on a strip of white cardstock in Versafine Onyx Black. Next I stamped it again on Vellum Cardstock and embossed with black detail embossing powder. I then colored the back side of the vellum with a Copic marker, heat set, trimmed just the body and popped up over the original stamped butterfly. Next I took the small polka dot butterfly from Petals & Stems and stamped it twice above the large butterfly in Soft Sky. I added a little Soft Sky sponging for softness and then matted on Basic Gray cardstock. For the background I used two different stamps from Filigree Fantasy to create a pattern of Soft Sky on Soft Sky. I finished off with a sentiment from Wonderful Wishes in the corner, then added two pearls and some ribbon to the designer paper panels. Then I sprayed the entire card with a clear glitter spray I get at Wal-mart to add a little sparkle coating.
Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!
This blog is for personal inspiration only and all projects are my original designs unless otherwise stated. I own Verve Stamps and have received products and materials to work with from several generous companies over the years. While I have received free products from these companies, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of their products. I will never recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.
