Happy Trails

Hey everyone! I've got another little western card for you. This one uses stamps from the Havin' a Pow Wow set by The Cat's Pajamas. I started out with last week's SCS sketch challenge on my mind, but the layout seemed just a little too clean cut for this little rough & tumble guy, so I decided to re-arrange things a bit and skew the panels. The papers are from the We R Memory Keepers Boho Chic line. I stamped Lassoed in Vintage Sepia Versafine ink on Classic Cream cardstock and then colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I then sponged around the edges with Ranger Tea Dye Distress ink. Next I stamped Happy Trails to you on the aqua piece and then I stamped the Horse Shoe in Versamark above it and paper pierced it to make it stand out. I love how that turned out. Nexte I sewed a zigzag stitch around the third panel and then scuffed it up a bit with a sander for a more rustic look. (Word to the wise: I'd suggest roughing it up BEFORE you sew, since you run the risk of fraying your stitches if you do it the other way, like I did!). For the back panil I took some Muslin Coral Paper Accents paper and stamped the Horse Shoe in Orangene Palette ink randomly for a nice little custom background. I finished off with a little hemp tied around the bottom and yippee skippy, we have a card! :)

Okay, that's it for today peeps. Be sure to check out the Verve Visual blog where the design team has been posting their Back to Basics series of projects. I asked them to go back to their stamping roots and come up with some projects that could be made with minimal fancy tools. The results are just gorgeous - so head on over there for a little inspiration. :)

This is a great card - you're right, the layers did need to be askew! Love the colors.
