Lavendar Florals

Okay, so lavendar is SO not my favorite color, in fact, I can safely say that I never would have put these colors together if I didn't have this Making Memories paper I got in a grab bag a while back laying around. My grandma sent a really nice surprise to me this week and despite how sick I've been, I felt the need to get up in my studio and make a thank you card. I had three things in mind - Colleen's Thursday Throwdown Sketch from last week, the color lavendar (Grandma's favorite) and to use Fancy Florals since she hasn't seen any of my stamp designs yet.

Every now and then, I think it's fun to challenge myself to use colors I wouldn't normally put together. It makes me look at things from a different perspective. Well, this color combo was a big challenge for me. All in all, I think Grandma will like it, and that's what's important! I started by stamping some of the small and medium flowers from Fancy Florals in Elegant Eggplant and Lavendar Lace on Pearlized White cardstock. Next I stamped the large flower and cut it out. The sentiment is stamped in Lavendar Lace and then everything is matted with the Making Memories paper. (There's no label on it, so I have no idea what line it was from.) The half circles are cut with my Creative Memories Circle Cutter and I used a white glaze pen for accents around the turquoise circle. Finally I accented the center flower with Grape Freeze Ice Stickles and glued the whole thing to a Lavendar Lace card base. Oh yeah, and I rounded the opposite corners of the rectangle panels for a fun effect.

Hope y'all have a fantastic weekend. I'm hoping to be over my sickness soon. DH is sick too, so at least we can share our misery with each other! LOL Thanks for all the well wishes.

All your cards with the CM circle cutters have me using the system again. I can't believe I've had it for almost 10 years now! EEK! I love the shades of lavender. Aren't you addicted to the glaze pens now?!?
