Au Chocolat Santa

I've been busy in my studio working on some swaps and other stuff I can't show you right now, so I decided to make a quick holiday card to post. This one uses a Santa Claus image from the retired SU Old Fashioned Christmas and this week's Mojo Monday sketch. This image has been sitting in my "almost" box since last year. I sold a large set of Christmas cards with this image and this one was a leftover. I remember what a pain those cards were because I handpainted santa's hat with a mixture of diamond glaze and Real Red Reinker for the hat, Hunter Green reinker for the holly and his eyes, and a mixture of Diamond Glaze and Art Institute Crystal Glitter for the brim of his hat and his beard. However, this card came together in a snap, since the hard part was done. I inked up the edges with Close to Cocoa ink, matted on a Real Red circle which I distressed with a Tonic Paper Distresser and then matted on a Chocolate Chip Giga Scallop punch from my stash of leftovers.

The patterned papers are scraps from my pile. The one on the left is Au Chocolat which I colored some of the design with a Real Red marker and then matted with Chocolate Chip and Real Red cardstock. The paper on the right is from a Provocraft Slab and is matted with the same colors of cardstock. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Faux Ribbon set, stamped in Chocolate Chip, sponged with Close to Cocoa and matted with Chocolate Chip and then a Real Red Super Jumbo scallop punch. I then sponged the outer edges of the card base with Close to Cocoa and then Chocolate Chip ink and tied a red satin bow from my stash to finish it off.

Beautiful! Love everything about it. It's hard for me to work on holiday cards now, but I suppose I should as it will be here before you know it. Macy's was putting out it's Christmas Trees this past weekend! Yikes!
