Ugly Cards

First off - have you SEEN The Cat's Pajamas website redesign????? Oh by gosh by golly it is SOOOOO cool - and the new stamps are fabulous - you've got to go check them out. There are even 3 clear sets so you can get more of the stamps you love without hurting your pocketbook! Hurry up, go check it out now - I'm just posting ugly cards today so you won't miss anything if you get sucked in and forget to come back!

Okay, since you asked for it here are the two ugly cards I mentioned yesterday. The first card was for this week's CPS sketch and I was in one of those stamping outside my normal comfort zone moods. Usually I should just steer clear when I'm in those moods, because things end up a little wonky.

So the photo above is what the card looked like after I finished it the first time. Kind of bizarre, right? I had this grand vision in my head, but then it just didn't come together like I thought it would. I'm pretty sure this card is currently setting off metal detectors within a 100 mile radius of my house, there are so many brads on it! After I finished it, I set it aside to see if I'd like it any better the next day. No luck, it still looked ugly in the morning so I got out my bottle of Undu, ripped off the entire panel and reglued the other direction and changed the direction of the sentiment piece. So here's what it looks like now. Still not fabulous - in my opinon, the two cards are equal parts ugly.

The next "ugly" card has been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks. I started out trying to make a "quick" card, and then I just kept messing with it and nothing ever worked out right. I don't remember now, but I think this was a sketch from somewhere. I really like the layout, but the card just isn't speaking to me. It just feels like it's missing something. Okey dokey peeps. That's all for today. If you're still reading and you haven't checked out The Cat's Pajamas yet, what are you waiting for????

Remember, today's the last day to get your entries in for my 75K Card Sketch Contest. Time is ticking... you've got until 10PM Mountain time tonight!

Hmmmmm. . . I can't, for the life of me, figure out what's WRONG with any of those cards! Yes, I can see they are "different" for YOU, but I think they're all great cards! Isn't it funny how when you make something "out of your comfort zone" you never like it? But just think about all of the people whose style it IS and they LOVE it! :)

Okay, the first one isn't really my thing...(but I don't necessarily think it is ugly...) The second card is just adorable! I love the colors and the little birdie is soooo cute!

OK, the cards aren't THAT bad, so don't beat yourself up! I actually like the bird one, but would remove the ribbon, bring the bird & hardware panel down, and maybe retie a bit of ribbon on the edge of the hardware. Just a thought. But thanks for showing us cards that you're not happy with!

Funny, because I saw your cards first and thought they were adorable, especially the CPS one. Then I read your post. You know that people love the cards that we don't.

I don't think you are capable of making ugly cards! These are perfectly adorable! I think I can fit both being sucked in by your cards, and by the new CP stamps into my long weekend Friday!

HEY! I *LIKE* the bird card!!!!!!

The other card would be better with like half the brads, but the design and the colors ROCK!

And I had already been to Cat's PJ's and placed my order for all 3 sets of clear stamps..... THOSE PENGUINS ARE SOOOOOO adorable!!!!!!!

There are no ugly cards! I think that way about some of mine too, and then someone buys it. ha ha! I like the recreation on the cps card, but you are more daring than I. I like to hoard my brads! ;) The birdie is too cute!

I really like the tall skinny one-it reminded me of a funky purse I had back in the late 60's. Crocheted and really cute.

Ugly card? Now way! They look fabulous. I wish I could make "ugly" card like you do. . .:)

I really love all the brads on the first card and both orientations are great. The card must be heavy! It looks fabulous nonetheless.

I love the paper and Hodge Podge hardware on your second card. Very pretty card.

Please share more "ugly" cards with us!
