Our huge 50" TV arrived this afternoon - two days before it was scheduled to be delivered. The delivery driver made me go find a pair of "metal snips" in the toolbox. Mind you, I'm more of a tool guy than Mark is, but I still wasn't exactly sure what he wanted. I was pretty proud of myself for coming back with the right tool on the first try. Then, after much muttering and complaining about having to carry the thing up our front porch steps, the driver manhandled the TV into the front room, and then drove off without giving me back my snips! The NERVE! Oh well, I guess that's the service you can expect for free delivery! LOL Unfortunately the new sound system and the entertainment center aren't scheduled to be delivered until next week, so the TV is now taking up a large portion of the floor in front of our current entertainment center. Quite an upgrade from our 10 year old 27" screen.
I didn't have a single spare second to stamp yesterday, so I'm digging into my pile of projects I haven't shared with you yet. I altered this large wooden clothespin and sent it to Cindy last week. She's been super sick and I wanted to cheer her up. I started by staining the entire wooden closepin with a dark walnut wood stain. Next I traced the clothespin onto Scarlet's Letter paper and cut out pieces for the top, bottom and sides. Since I have a not so cordial relationship with ModPodge, I ran the strips through my Xyron and adhered to the clothespin. Next I lightly sanded the corners with a sanding block and sponged with Close to Cocoa ink.
I ran the paper through my Xyron before using my Cuttlebug and Olivia alpha dies to cut out the letters to spell her name. Then I just adhered the letters and added two layered Prima Yellow Hydrangea No. 5 flowers with a Karen Foster thumbtack brad in the center. The flowers are attached with Terrifically Tacky Tape.
For the other side of the clothespin I stamped the Amuse sentiment "The road to a friend's house is never long". I then tore the edges, inked up with a sponge and Close to Cocoa ink and glued down to the back and added another set of primas. To finish off the project, I added some stardust stickles to the primas and then sprayed the entire project with an opalescent glitter spray. It turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
