So did everyone have a great weekend? Our shopping trip was a success and we reached a great compromise. I got the beauty of an elegant armoire that will completely hide our huge 50" plasma and Mark got a built in drawer that already has the hookups built in for an Xbox 360 or other game console. And best of all, I think I talked Mark into letting me hide the subwoofer away in one of the bottom compartments of the armoire! One huge victory for style, 10 years in the making! LOL I can't remember the name of the armoire model so I can't show you a pic, but as soon as it's delivered (probably a couple weeks) I'll show you all our new setup. Since we were furniture shopping, we also picked out a new table and 6 chairs. I'm so happy I can finally have a table that we can actually fit six adults PLUS food, all at the same time! Our current table fits 4 adults with no food or 2 adults with food, so this is a huge upgrade! Yay!
Today's card features my Penny Black Modesty stamp which I just love, and I rediscovered in my half-hearted attempt to clean my messy studio. I knew I wanted to do a monochromatic card with browns, so I started by stamping Modesty in Timber Brown Stazon on Very Vanilla card stock. I then colored the image with a Chocolate Chip Marker and a blender pen. I sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa ink and a sponge so as just to leave a slight highlight of Vanilla on the image and did the same thing with the Heartfelt Thanks sentiment from the PaperTrey Butterfly Kisses set. I then trimmed the two stamped images, punched with the ticket corner punch and added faux stitching all around the edges with a paper piercer and Chocolate Chip marker. Both pieces are matted on Chocolate Chip card stock.
For the background I ran a piece of Close to Cocoa through my Cuttlebug using the Textile Embossing Folder and then lightly inked over the embossing with my Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink pad and punched the corners with the ticket punch. Next I wrapped some brown velvet ric rac around the Close to Cocoa piece and adhered to a Chocolate Chip base. I glued the sentiment panel on with Stampin Dimensionals and then added some highlights to the flowers with a mixture of Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds. I originally had a stamped flower cutout under the sentiment, but I thought it distracted from the elegance of the card, so I took it off.
