It's Chaotic!

Happy Saturday, everyone!!! Does everyone have big weekend plans? My big plan for the weekend is organization. I am generally a pretty organized person... except when it comes to my craft studio. Okay, I admit it - someone abducted the neat little Type A person that I usually am and replaced her with a total crafting slob! I think I just get so excited about stamping and the projects I'm working on that I can't be bothered with constantly straightening up. But after a while, it gets to the point where my creativity suffers from the chaos that is around me. That's how I feel today. It seems like my cards this past week haven't really been rocking and I don't jump at the chance to run up to my studio and stamp, and I think the chaos is the reason. The thought of the mess that awaits kind of makes my skin crawl! LOL

So this weekend my mission is to organize. A lot of the mess I have is because I like to keep all my favorite things at my fingertips.... and I have a lot of favorites! Unfortunately that often leaves me with very little space to stamp. I'm pretty sure if I have better storage to organize my stuff, I will keep my area cleaner. So, that being said, here's a deep dark secret look into the chaos of my room right now. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will have some decent after photos to show! I just stood in my room and took pictures in a circle, so hope ya'll won't stop coming to my blog now that you see what a mess my studio can be!

So just to clarify....yes, my 12" Tonic paper cutter is completely covered in stuff, which makes it VERY difficult to use. LOL! Yes, I can barely even get to my Cuttlebug without causing bodily harm. Yes, my cat does love to play with my ribbon, which completely fills two of those drawers and is in a state of emergency. No, this is not Clean Sweep and I am not selling all my supplies in a garage sale to make room for the reading chair that now lives in the hallway after being displaced by the card table that is home to my Xyron 1200 and Tonic paper trimmer (among other things!) And finally, yes, I will pick a random winner for some BLOG CANDY from anyone who comments on this post with the correct names of the 2 colors of inkpads that were AWOL from my Ink Caddy when these photos were taken. This blog candy drawing is open until 10PM Mountain Time on Sunday June 10. I'll post the winner Monday morning.

Oh my, it's nice to know someone else gets caught up in creating. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! Happy Organizing and don't forget to show us the results.

Wow, someone after my own heart! My studio is worse!!!! Love your post today. I wrote an article just yesterday for Craft Critique on organization.....it will run on Monday (I think). I mention nearly the same thing as you did here today....clutter chaos stiffles creativity, it's a fact!!! Good luck organizing this weekend...will you come to MN when you are done and organize mine while we're gone this week? Pretty please??????

Hugs,
Amy

Whew girl...you've got your work cut out for you. You are a brave soul to expose your mess with us. My space looks pretty similar to yours, but I'd never take a camera to it...it would be too humiliating for me...lol. Happy cleaning!

I think you and I should have called Trading Spaces and done each other's rooms!!! Mine looks similar and my table is covered with my favourites too, which only leaves me about a square foot to stamp......ahahaaaa!! Can't wait to see the finished room!! If we don't hear from you within 48 hours, we'll send a search party!!!

Julee your space looks so much like mine it's uncanny! I am definitely a messy creative person, and I agree it gets to the point that I don't even want to go in there, which is sad. Good luck with your organizing!! And I really can't tell which colors are missing, but I'll guess So Saffron & Pretty in Pink. :-)

OK, How did you get into my room? are these pictures meant for blackmail?????
LOL, I have no husband or children this afternoon and night so I have the exact same plan. I will show you my pics if you show yours~LOL
Good luck and I bet you are missing garden green and pretty in pink! Long shot guess, but I had to comment, it is so similar to my room.

This is so funny....cuz I JUST spent all yesterday jamming to the BoDeans and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! My studio was exactly the same way! I literally could not walk in the room cuz there was paper on every available surface! I found one of my paper piercers too! (I have like 8 of them cuz I keep losing em!) Good luck cleaning!

Oh my I feel for you today!! One thing you need is a bigger trash can...DH got me one and it helps soooo much!!!
Thanks for the idea of putting the Ipod in there...gonna do that today! And you've inspired me to clean the closet...gee thanks. ;)
I have no idea about the AWOL inkpads but I'll guess Regal Rose & Celery. Have fun!!!

I am in the same boat! I only have about 5 inches of workspace and you have more but we are going on a picnic with DH's co-workers so I can't clean my area until we get back! I so wanted to stamp this a.m. too! boo-hoo. I look forward to seeing the end results. I LOVE your chocolate brown polka dot boxes on your shelves! how cute are they??!

Have fun organizing Julee! I only wish that I had an entire room to spread out like you. Imagine your chaos except contained to just one wall of your room (a long counter) and that is what I have to deal with.

I recently purchased the Target knock off's of the Store N Style cubes. LOVE them. I also purchased the actual Store N Styloe desktop organizer shown here http://shop.cropinstyle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=39 and I can't say enough good things about it. The shelves are adjustable and hold ALL of my background stamps (I have 25) plus there's room for 25 more in my future).

No clue on the AWOL stamp pads! My boys are going to be going to a Motorcross tonight, so I'll actually have some alone time to clean and organize and most importantly STAMP!

Oh my...You really have a long day ahead of you. LOL Good luck and remember to come up and breath every once and a while. :)

If you organize your colors like me then I'm guessing so saffon and pretty in pink. I felt like an intruder making your pictures large enough to count ink pads! Ha! But, it sure makes me feel better to see another messy crafter! :) Have a great weekend! I'm moving my stamping space and organizing too!

I was looking at each picture trying to figure out what colors of ink pads are missing, when Tess walked by the computor and said "WHOA THAT is a MESS!!" AHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!

Funny, someone said, it doesn't matter how big the space you have, you always end up on a 6inx6in space to work!!!

hhmmmm Chocolate Chip and Cool Carribean!!

GET BUSY, girl!! I can't wait to see the "after" pics!!

PS Thank God For blogs this morning, something to browse while SCS is down!!

I'm going to guess Pixie Pink and More Mustard. It's really hard to tell.
My space is pretty bad too. I just finished cleaning my bedroom so now perhaps I'll go clean my stamping space.

My So Saffron is AWOL too... must be a kitty conspiracy. I think the other one you are missing is Pretty in Pink, but I'm just guessing. Could be blush blossom, but I don't think you'd let them get out of order... LOL!

I LOVE your chaos.... makes me feel better about mine... LOL! I have to hide the ribbon here too.... same reason.....

Good luck with your clean up.... when you're done there, you can come over to my house.... LOL!

You're certainly not alone in the "crafting slob" club. m'dear. :) I live alone in a mobile home. I do have a craft room that was, at one time, completely organized. Since I teach classes, however, and I do not have a television in my craft room, I drag everything out into my dining and living rooms. I've joked with my kids that I should forget trying to put everything back into the craft room and just put shelves and storage in my living room and just live in my "craft house." :) It IS very hard to create when you have to dig through "stuff" from previous classes to fine what you need for the current class. I need to work on my organization for sure! Thanks for being brave enough to share your clutter with the rest of us clutterers.

The AWOL colors are So Saffron and Pretty in Pink. Definitely two of my fav colors to use. I am also spending my day organizing my crafting chaos!! And hopefully I'll actually get to stamp/scrap also...

I wish I had a room this big to mess up! lol. but my area gets messy seems like all by itself. I think the stamp pads that are missing are Yoyo Yellow and Pixie Pink, just a guess, because I can't tell how you organize them. Have fun cleaning and can't wait to see it when you're done.

Sherrie said...

how brave to post pictures of chaos, my room often looks like this! I so enjoy things after a thorough cleaning. Have fun with your organization, hope you find a lot of hidden jewels!

Jill MacDonald said...

OMG...I have a kindred spirit - ha! I love organization, but I can't seem to make it work for me in my stamping area. My workspace just seems to shrink the more stamping I do!

Wow I have an overwhelming urge to clean now, & my rooms not to bad. Good luck with the organization. Can't wait to see it after.

lol it looks like my dining room where I stamp

Is it So Saffron and Pretty in Pink that are missing? I hope you're going to post the "after" pics too! Can't wait to see how it shapes up.

Anonymous said...

I would say the missing colors are, Pretty In Pink (since that is the color used on your card posted on 06/08/07) and maybe black.

You are one brave soul to post pictures! I don't have an entire room but, my craft area is just as bad. It's so difficult to keep everything nice and tidy.

OMG I love your room, now I don't feel so bad about mine. Thanks for sharing with up, your room and your cards. I must get my room cleaned up for my FIRST Stampin Up Demo. I think the colors missing are Pretty In Pink and Close to Cocoa

Hi! LOVE the chaos of your craft room... hey you can't be A Type ALL the time!

You are missing So Saffron and Pretty in Pink... better find them soon... they're are probably feeling so alone in that big, messy, land of PA craft!Yikes!

Thanks for sharing!

I never would have thought you would be stamping in such an unorganized room. Or is it organized clutter? My guess for the missing inkpads are So Saffron and Real Red. Thanks for the game and the blog candy.

Angi said...

Oh my goodness! That's what my craft room looked like not too long ago, but then a very good friend came and helped me organize. It's sooo much better now. I think the missing ink pads are So Saffron and Pretty in Pink. Good luck on your organization mission. Can't wait to see the after pictures.

O my word!!!! I would never guess that you would look like this. How do you do such good works? I just cleaned my entire mess on Thursday because I had one of my stamping friends over and she thinks I am very neat. I should have done it before she got here, eh? I wish I could help you. I can attest to the fact when you are finished you can notice how great it is. Can you show us the new room when you are done

OMW! How'd you get into my stamp room? Guessing pretty in pink and so saffron. Happy Cleaning!

Gayle said...

whats wrong with this room? Looks just like mine!! I am guessing that you were missing Pretty in Pink ink and Ancient Page Coal Black. Since those were the last 2 you mentioned using!

Love your blog ...thanks for sharing!!!!!

Looks like my room! And do you find when you clean it that you have a hard time finding everything? I seem to always have that problem! My guess is So Saffron and Blush Blossom are the 2 AWOL inks. :)

I am so happy to know I am not the only one. I keep buying storage containers so I can organize but I do not have room to put anymore. I have asked that somehow I win the lottery and can built a 40 x 40 room just for my stamping and quilting. LOL!

Beth Thomas said...

Okay, I had my guesses in mind before reading the other comments so I'm sticking to them- So Saffron and Really Rust. Just cleaned and reorganized my craft room this past week to get ready to move in to my new larger room formerly known as the "dining room." Best of luck!!!!

Nancy said...

Wow...what 'creative clutter". Maybe that's what I need to do to have fab cards. Would you be willing to come and organize my stamping room? *grin*
I'd have to say the two colors that are missing are Pretty in Pink and Ancient Page Coal Black.

Chocolate Chip and Cranberry Crisp! I really have no idea, I was just picking 2 colors that you used recently...Have fun organizing. My desk are looks a little like this too, but there is fabric eveywhere and NO cats!!
