Black, White and... Pink

Last night I finished up my cards for an A Muse swap I'm participating in. I made two prototypes and then consulted my artistic adviser, Shannan. This one is the one she told me to do, although she said she liked the other one better. Well, I can't have the second best going out to my fellow swappers, so I had to go with Shannan's fave for the swap.

Here's the card that didn't cut the mustard. Actually, part of the factor in not choosing it is that I always think it's a pain to line up squares. I love the look of the background showing through, but it's just a pain to make it even all around. Also my wrist wasn't going to like 16 corner punches plus a mega and giga punch per card.

I started by stamping the A Muse Flower Doodles three times on Pearlized White paper with Pretty in Pink ink. I then stamped over the top of it with the A True Friend sentiment in Ancient Page Coal Black. Next I cut it out with my Creative Memories oval cutting system and sketched a border around the edges. I then used my aquapainter and a Pretty in Pink Watercolor Wonder Crayon to color in the pink flowers and to color a light border around the doodles. I matted this on a mega scallop oval punch of Magnolia paper and then a Giga scallop oval punch of Basic Black. I then pierced holes in each scallop and added stome Diamond Stickles for some sparkle. I then cut 2" squares from two different Magnolia papers, punched the corners with the ticket corner punch and arranged them diagonally on the 4.25" basic black card base. For the finishing touch I added two layered Prima Hydrangea flowers with a black brad and a little added Stickles. The flower does actually blend a little bit better in real life - the colors in the photo are a tad off.

I got the prettiest little Blogger RAK in my mailbox yesterday. This one is from Diane (djluvs2stamp) of My Little Stampin' Spot. Cool Caribbean and Chocolate Chip is one of my absolute favorite color combinations and this card is absolutely fabulous. I love everything about it from the beautiful framing, to the layout to the sparkly flower centers, to the gorgeous matching envelope. Thanks Diane, it was such a treat to find this bit of happy mail in my box!

I also think your RAK is awesome. What a pretty card!

Love the card that didn't make it! Square, lots of dimension, and really like how you added stickles to the flower petals. I need to add this card as a future sketch to my inspiration book.

Even though it didn't 'Cut the Mustard', the card is lovely! But I could so see NOT wanting to make this card several times (with all of the cutting, punching, matting, etc.).

Your RAK card is lovely too!
