Dutch Girl Treasure

I made this card for today’s sketch challenge on SCS. As I was cleaning my chaotic mess of a craft room yesterday I rediscovered this Penny Black stamp I bought a week or so ago and had never used. I also re-discovered some Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl paper that was hiding in the bottom of my paper drawer. It’s amazing what I find when I actually take the time to clean!

This sketch was so unique I just had to try it right away. I started by cutting out the triangles and stamping the Penny Black Modesty stamp in Ancient Page Coal Black on Dutch Girl paper and coloring in with Bordering Blue, So Saffron, Real Red and Mellow Moss Stampin’ Write Markers. Next I matted with Real Red Cardstock and used my Mat Pack and a paper piercer to pierce holes all along the insides of the triangles.

I stamped Linen background in Bordering Blue on Bordering Blue card stock and then pierced all the way around the edges. Next I took my Real Red marker and filled in the faux stitching on both the triangle panels and the Bordering Blue panels. I then stamped another portion of the Modesty stamp, colored with markers and cut out. I also stamped the A Muse I Treasure Your Friendship stamp in Real Red and cut out. I matted both pieces on Real Red and adhered with Pop Up Glue Dots. Next I wrapped a red organdy ribbon around the bottom, tied in a knot and glued the whole card front to a Whisper White card base. The final touch was some Stardust Stickles highlights on the flowers.
Congrats again to the winners of my card contest.

Beautiful, as always!!!

I saw a card JeanneS did with this layout, but she didn't mention on her blog that it was the Challenge.... I open your blog and THERE IT IS AGAIN! LOL! With all that went on yesterday, I forgot all about the sketch challenge! LOL!
