CPS Contest

Okay, so I finally got around to making a couple cards for the CPS Sketch contest. The first one uses one of the Hero Arts bird images Amy sent me. I noticed on the images of the smaller birds that Amy sent that some of the wings match the patterns on my Hero Arts Doodle Leaf flower, so I decided I'd have to pull it out and play.

The bird and Doodle Leaf Flower are colored in with Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie markers to give the card a fall feel. I then rounded the corners and sponged the edges of the cardstock with Creamy Caramel ink. Next I stamped happy fall with Karen Foster Snap Casual stamps in Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I used my small oval punch to cut it out and secured it using Aged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware.

I dry embossed the Ruby Red background with my Cuttlebug Textile Embossing folder and lighted inked over the raised parts with Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink, The two tone May Arts ribbon is wrapped around the card and tied in a knot up top. The red daisy primas are secured with Making Memories Aged Copper brads. To finish off the card, I dotted all around the Chocolate Chip card base with my clear glaze pen, and also drew a line down the ribbon with the glaze pen to give it a striped look.

The second card uses some of the Halloween stamps from The Cat's Pajamas. I stamped Big Sprinkle {D-S301} with Ancient Page Coal Black on Paper Accents Pearlized White and then masked to stamp the Witchy Hat {D-5256} on her head. Next I cut out a large oval and used it as a reverse mask to stamp the Big Web {D-6322} all around the edges in Going Grey and then sponged with the same color ink. You can't tell in the photo, but I traced each of the cobwebs with my clear Stardust pen to give it the shimmery, silky look of a cobweb. Next I colored in Sprinkle and her hat with Stardust pens and stamped the Spider {C-6324} three times on pearlized white paper. I then masked just his body and stamped the Small Web {B-6323} behind, sponged with Going Grey and highlighted with a clear Stardust pen. I then cut them out in circles to line up down the ribbon, but they looked too big, so I ended up cutting each spider out.

Next I stamped the Big Web randomly in VersaMark around the Pumpkin Pie cardstock layer and stamped Haunt It {D-5262} in Coal Black in the bottom corner. I rounded the corners and then dotted around the edges with my Black Glaze pen. Next I took some black argyle ribbon from Michael's and cinched it together in 3 places with ribbon slides and wrapped it around the top and bottom of the card. I then adhered the three spiders to each ribbon slide with Terrifically Tacky Tape. A little clear and black glaze on their eyes to make them pop and the card was finished. Except... when I was gluing it down I got a nice black thumbprint on the side of the oval next to Sprinkle! Grrrrrrr! So out came the Starry Pumpkins {E-6334}, stamped in Coal Black on Pumpkin Pie and cut out to cover up my mistake.

Morning Julee-hope you had a great long weekend! Love the bird card! I never even made the connection between the bird stamp wings and the HA flower stamp! I'll have to dig mine out and do something with the two together! I love the card, the colors are all beautiful!

Adorable cards! I love Spooky Sprinkle! It's hard to think of Fall when Summer is just getting ready to start! Although I wouldn't mind skipping the Summer temperatures.....

Both of these cards have a *WOW* factor! Love that Hero Arts bird. Would you believe that I had it in my hot little hand Friday, but put it back in lieu of the HA set of four birds? Why oh why was I trying to be good?

You know that the Sprinkle card is my favorite. :-) Love the witch hat on her (yet another CP stamp to go on my wish list). sigh....

BTW, what is the CPS Sketch contest?
