Simple Pleasures

I sat down tonight to try to come up with a design for a shoebox swap I'm going to this weekend, but ended up making some simple Easter cards instead. I made eight cards of the same design with matching envelopes. Though simple is not my usual style, it's occasionally fun to try new things. I knew I wanted to use my new A Muse saying,so I just had to go with a simple layout.

This card measures 4.25" square and I made matching envelopes using Julie HRR's trick for using A-2 envelopes for square cards. I started by inking up the flower stamp from Happy Harmony with Lavender Lace and Certainly Celery markers. Next I lightly brushed Elegant Eggplant around the edges of the flowers for a two-toned effect (this was inspired by Shannan's Tote Bag ) . I stamped on Whisper White and punched out with the Marvy Mega Regular Circle Punch. I then matted on an Elegant Eggplant Marvy Giga Scalloped Circle punch with holes pierced in each scallop. (Note: for mass production, I save time by stacking 4 scallops together and piercing all at once.)

Next I stamped the A Muse Life's Simple Pleasures sentiment in Elegant Eggplant directly on the card base. I used my double circle punch to punch two holes to weave my grosgrain ribbon through and tie a flat bow. A corner rounder to all of the edges and some Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamond mixture on the flowers and voila!

On the inside of the card I stamped Happy Easter in Elegant Eggplant and punched out with my Marvy Super Jumbo circle punch. I then matted on a Lavender Lace Marvy Mega Scalloped circle with holes pierced in each scallop. A small Elegant Eggplant daisy punch (the same one used on the envelopes) finished off the look.

It's not too late to enter my card contest!

Cute cards! I made a trifold card and need to mail it and now with your tip on punching the envelope I know just how to do it. I also like how the punch adds a special little touch to the envelope. Thanks for sharing!!
